This week has seen the end of our Lectra unit and today I handed in a folder I put together which includes information and examples of all the work I have completed during the unit. As well as this I had to hand in my long sleeve t-shirt. I’m pleased with the folder although I’m very much hoping I have included all the work I should have, I couldn’t think of anything so....! I quite glad the unit has come to an end as it allows me to focus on the ‘Manifesto’ project which comes to a head on Monday when I will present my final designs and chose, with the help of my tutors, which design to make!

Week 17
On Friday we took part in a jersey workshop and were shown how to work with jersey as a fabric. We were shown how to make the different features of a long sleeve t-shirt which will be making within the next few weeks using the pattern we produced using Lectra.
As well as this, on Tuesday we presented our powerpoint presentations on our chosen fashion capital this week. The presentation went ok and I have to say I'm very glad it's out of the way :-) however it could be improved in several ways. For example, we could have made the visual aspect of the presentation more interesting for the audience by including more pictures/photos, making the slides more aesthetically pleasing and possibly including video's or animation. The audience also made the comment that we could have made the presentation more personal to us. I think this is fair comment however I'm not totally sure how we would have gone about it, none of us had a particular connection to a certain place! We simply chose to base our presentation on Milan because we didn't know much about it. I'm not a huge fan of the research side of the presentation as it's hard to identify exactly what is accurate information.

Busy Busy Busy!
I’ve got quite a lot to be getting on with at the moment what with our design project, Manifesto, as well as our Lectra and Buying and Merchandising lessons which are both new to us.
I'm enjoying the Manifesto project and my particular theme so I'm getting quite stuck into the project although I'm waiting on the right sized sketch book!! I’ve spent a lot of time producing designs which relate to my theme and I’ve just started putting together my theme board which should provide me with more inspiration for designs.
Today we received our mark for the Pattern Cutting and Construction unit. I'm really happy with my grade and it's great to have hard work recognised. Next week we get feedback on our Fashion Principles unit so hopefully I will be equally happy with that!
In our last Buying and Merchandising lesson we were given our first assessment. We have to choose a fashion brand/company and a particular site it is situated in. We then have to think and write about it's 'Points of Difference' and do an 'S-Formula'. I'm feeling quite optimistic towards completing the assignment as I have chosen to focus on Topshop, Exeter where I worked for just under a year. This means I am in a fortunate position as I have a good knowledge of the shop and this will definitely help when completing the essay.
